UPDATE: Cyclist dies in collision with semi-truck on Highway 97 in Kelowna

UPDATE: Kelowna RCMP confirmed on Tuesday that the cyclist involved in Monday’s serious collision with a semi-truck at Dilworth Drive and Harvey Avenue died.

“The cyclist, a 69-year-old Kelowna resident, was transported to hospital,” Kelowna RCMP Cpl. Meghan Foster said in a press release. “Efforts to save the cyclist’s life were made, but sadly he has succumbed to his injuries.”

The cyclist’s name was not released.

Police say the driver of the semi-truck tractor trailer has been co-operative, adding he is not in custody.

They added they are continuing to investigate the incident, and are canvassing the surrounding area for video surveillance and other evidence.

A collision between a cyclist and a semi-truck has stalled traffic on Dilworth Drive near Highway 97.

“The cyclist has been rushed to hospital,” according to Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey with Kelowna RCMP, adding, “The cyclist’s current condition is not known at this time.”
