They say good things take time. For Def Leppard, their iconic album ‘Hysteria’ was three years into the making following a barrage of bad luck…
In 1984, drummer Rick Allen was in a car accident that claimed his left arm. A year later Joe Elliot fell ill with the mumps. Soon after, producer Mutt Lange was also involved in a serious car accident.
But the boys of Def Leppard couldn’t be beaten, despite the hardship they were motivated to get back in the studio to finish the album.
It was the long awaited follow up to ‘Pyromania’ and when ‘Hysteria’ hits the charts in 1987, the album catapulted Def Leppard into stardom. A turbo-charged, wall-to-wall, metal-edged, pop rock smash hit.
