For many Christmas is about spending time with family, joy and celebration, for others it cant be a rather lonely occasion.
Covid had its strongest impact on elderly people, and with all the safety measures care-homes had to take extra precautions, which means thousands of care-home residents are experiencing more loneliness and bigger challenges with mental health.
That’s why this holiday season we are campaigning to impact more elders in non-profit care homes.
Together we can lift the spirits of lonely seniors this Holiday Season.
Research shows that listening to music, singing, and dancing are powerful tools that can bring comfort and joy to lonely seniors living with all types of dementia. Musical memories are often preserved in people with Alzheimer’s disease because key brain areas linked to musical memory are relatively undamaged by the condition.
Music therapy can also relieve stress, reduce anxiety and depression, reduce agitation, improve mood and provide connection and togetherness, especially for those that may have difficulty communicating. Music therapy also elevates moods, helps people smile, and can encourage movement and joy. Music brings healing, hope, and happiness.
