Pink Floyd – ‘Wish You Were Here’

Following the success of 1983’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’, the members of Pink Floyd were grasping with their new found stardom and the pressure of delivering another hit album…

Completed in 1975, the album was Roger Water’s tribute to Syd Barrett who was the genius behind their early works but succumbed to his excessive use of psychedelic drugs and ultimately, mental illness.

Specifically, ‘Shine On You Crazy Diamond’ was a tribute to Barrett, and, by coincidence and a cruel twist of fate, Barrett showed up at the mixing of the track – unrecognizable to any of the band members. It would be the final time they saw him before his funeral in 2006.

The presence and emotion behind the album is undeniable and has its place in the hearts of Floyd fans across the world.
